The RH digital team went back to university recently to help shape the marketing stars of the future.
Acquiring key digital marketing skills, such as how to manage and optimise a PPC campaign or interrogate Analytical data, is almost impossible unless graduates are fortunate to find a role that can train them from the ground up. There are thousands of clever grads coming into the job market with the motivation and aptitude to excel in digital marketing, but without grounding in the core principles and tools, it’s a tough industry to break into.
So, when Richard Meek, a Senior Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University, asked us to work with his Postgraduate students and contribute to their Master’s degree programme, we jumped at the chance.
The opportunity to work with Richard and his students has been such a pleasure, said Tom Ritchie, Head of Digital at RH.
It’s a chance for us to pass on the key skills and hopefully give business graduates a career boost too.
The students attended a series of Analytics workshops earlier in the year, before sitting exams as part of the Master’s degree programme in May. Several students were then selected to present their findings to Lancaster University’s heads of marketing, members of the Lancaster University Management School teaching faculty and, yours truly, RH.
Richard Meek said:
Working with RH Partners has provided our masters students with valuable, commercially relevant, experience. Provision of expert masterclasses in the application of Google tools has supported student understanding of the link between analysis and insight, and enabled students to respond most effectively to a commercial brief.
Here at RH we were impressed with the student’s presentation and we’re looking forward to working with Richard and his new students next year.
